Orange Liqueur Cake Recipe

Orange Liqueur Cake
Orange Liqueur Cake Recipe makes for a classic cake that is wonderful and delicious. It isn't difficult and it is hands down a showstopper.

Ingredients
  • I cup of butter
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar, divided use
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plus one teaspoon of Grand Marnier
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups of sour cream
  • grated rind of one orange
  • one cup of chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup of orange juice
  • 1/2 cup of blanched slivered almonds
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and one cup of sugar until quite pale and fluffy.
  3. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
  4. Add a teaspoon of the Grand Marnier.
  5. Sift together the flour, baking powder and baking soda.
  6. Add the dry ingredients to batter, alternately with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  7. Stir in grated orange rind and one cup of chopped walnuts.
  8. Beat until stiff the three egg whites and fold into batter.
  9. Pour into a greased nine inch tube pan.
  10. Bake in the moderate oven for 50 minutes.
  11. Combine 1/2 cup of sugar, with one cup of orange juice and 1/2 cup of Grand Marnier.
  12. POUR OVER HOT CAKE IN THE PAN.
  13. Sprinkle with the slivered almonds and let cake cool completely before removing from pan.
