Recipe for the Rum Cake
Ingredients
1 pack yellow cake mix
1 pack instant vanilla pudding
4 eggs
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup rum
1/2 cup oil
Combine all the ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly with the help of an electric mixer for 2 minutes. Pour the mixture into a greased and floured cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for almost 50 to 55 minutes. Allow it to cool for 10 to 15 minutes and invert on a cake dish.
Syrup
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 stick butter
Mix the ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Boil for almost 5 minutes in order to dissolve the sugar and make a thick syrup. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup rum (mixture will boil over if not removed from heat). Prick the top of the cake and spoon the syrup over the top of the cake. |
